Seprona denounces the owner of a caracal that is an endangered species, inMarbella

The recent intervention of the Civil Guard in Marbella has highlighted the importance of the conservation of endangered species. A caracal specimen , known as 'Jakar', was found by a neighbour who alerted the Seprona about the presence of the animal in your garden.
The caracal, which weighs about 20 kilos, had escaped from a house located approximately 20 kilometers from there. Upon arriving at the scene, the agents of the Seprona They verified that the animal was not a lynx, as had been initially reported, but a caracal, a species classified as endangered .
Investigators discovered that the animal had been illegally acquired and transported from Moscow in 2022, being declared as a domestic cat for entry into Spain. Given the impossibility of proving its legal origin, the agents decided to file an administrative complaint for an alleged violation of the Law on the Repression of Smuggling.
The rescue of the caracal was carried out by specialized personnel from the Veterinary Health team of the City Council of Marbella. This team, known for its commitment to wildlife protection, managed to capture the animal without causing any harm.
Once rescued, 'Jakar' was transferred to the exotic mammal rescue center AAP Primadomus Located in Alicante. This center is dedicated to the rehabilitation and care of endangered species, providing them with a safe and suitable environment for their recovery.
The caracal, which has its natural habitat in Asia and Africa, is protected by various laws that seek to control its trade and guarantee the conservation of wild fauna and flora.
