Vox and its hoaxes, from the demolition of dams in Valencia to its indiscriminate attack on the Red Cross

The DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) that affected Valencia on October 29 has left a devastating toll. This natural catastrophe has been shamefully used by certain political sectors and denialist groups to spread disinformation and manipulate public opinion. The disturbing situation has allowed a large number of hoaxes to be promoted , affecting the perception of climate change and the management of water resources.
Following the DANA, distorted discourses have been generated that directly attack environmental policies. In a recent control session, Vox took advantage of the tragedy to wear down the Government, launching unfounded accusations and conspiracy theories. Pepa Millán, spokesperson for the far-right party, was one of the voices that rose up in defense of its narrative: "What kills is having demolished the dams out of pure climate fanaticism ." This claim is unfounded, since the facts prove the opposite.
Data that refutes the hoaxes
The Minister for Territorial Policy, Ángel Víctor Torres, responded to Millán's statements by presenting clear and conclusive data: "No dam has been destroyed in the Valencian Community in 24 years; that was a hoax ." This response reveals the irresponsibility of certain discourses that not only seek to misinform, but also seek to divert attention from the real causes of the environmental crisis.
But the misinformation was not limited to the treatment of water infrastructure. From sectors close to Vox, baseless accusations were launched against the Red Cross , claiming that they were not giving all the donated products to those affected by the flood, but were instead redistributing them among migrants. These claims have been denied by different aid agencies and humanitarian organizations.
The disinformation war has even reached alarming extremes, with the spread of theories suggesting that the DANA was deliberately provoked. Some media channels linked to the far right have claimed that rainfall was attracted through storms, with the intention of triggering floods.
The reality is that DANAs are complex and natural meteorological phenomena that can be exacerbated by climate change . It is essential that the information circulating is truthful and based on scientific evidence to prevent the population from falling into the trap of hoaxes, where the political party Vox moves like a fish in water.
The tragedy that Valencia has experienced must not be a battlefield for the political interests of a few. The Government and the organisations involved in managing the crisis must counteract disinformation with concrete facts and data. Citizens also have a central role: to be adequately informed .
