Vox refuses to give details of the bank that has financed it 9 million euros

Vox, the far-right political party in Spain, has refused to identify the bank that last year granted it a loan of more than nine million euros to finance its campaign for the municipal and general elections.
According to the law on party financing, all political groups are obliged to make this information public. However, no one from the party led by Santiago Abascal has wanted to provide clarity on this matter.
According to a report by 'El País', sources close to the bank suggest that the entity that granted the loan could be a Hungarian financial institution linked to the far-right Prime Minister Viktor Orbán .
In the Annual Accounts for the 2023 financial year, Vox reveals that two loans were used to address expenses and finance the campaigns of the previous year. The most significant loan, which amounted to 6.5 million euros for the national elections of July 23, was complemented by an additional increase of 192,082 euros .
As for the regional elections, the figure rises to 2.6 million for the municipal elections. By June, when the accounts were published, it was reported that a total of 1.8 million of the capital corresponding to the loans for the municipal elections had been repaid, although payments of 7,386,574 euros were still pending .
A Vox spokesperson emphasized 'El País' that the information published on the website is the information that should be made public. However, all additional information held by the Court of Auditors will not be disclosed. This approach has generated criticism, given that the law requires that such information must be accessible to the public.
The lack of transparency in the finances of a political party that advocates so much for Spanishness, with so much flag-waving, so much show and so much chest-thumping, is a clear example of what would happen if they were ever in power.
