Barcelona housing problem

Pessimism dominates the atmosphere among the barceloneses when evaluating the evolution of their city. According to a recent study carried out by GESOP for EL PERIÓDICO, A surprising 50.2% of respondents believe that Barcelona has worsened over the last year. Only 14.1% say they have seen improvements, which shows a palpable apathy towards the future of the city.
Access to housing
Housing is an issue that generates great discontent in the city. In a context where the difficulties in controlling the increase in rental prices are evident, 83.6% of those surveyed stated that access to housing has become more complicated in the last year. This fact highlights a critical problem in the lives of many families and young people trying to establish themselves in the city.
Insecurity in Barcelona
According to 58.4% of those surveyed, insecurity has increased, while only 7.1% perceive an improvement in this regard. Likewise, 32% consider that crime remains stable, which suggests a lack of confidence in the progress made in public security.
Impact of tourism
The debate on tourism has taken an interesting turn among the barceloneses. More than half of respondents, 55.3% , see more problems in tourism compared to the previous year, while only 11.8% see an improvement. This discontent may reflect the conflict between residents and the dynamics of mass tourism.
Perception of Cleanliness
Street cleaning is another hot topic in the discussion about quality of life in Barcelona. 35.4 % of respondents feel that there has been a deterioration in cleanliness, while 22.6% see it improving, leaving 40.6% who do not notice significant changes. This contrast could be indicative of a lack of consensus on the city's maintenance policies.
Future Perspectives
Looking ahead, public opinion is divided. Only 29% are confident that the current situation will continue. Barcelona will improve, while 30.3% fear that things will get worse. The remaining 32.4% say they do not expect significant changes.
