Residents of the southern district of Madrid have raised their voices against what they consider a marginal situation, which they live day after day, putting up with the bad smells of the sewage treatment plants, housing everything they do not want in the privileged areas of Madrid.
The wastewater treatment plants and landfills that make the daily life of thousands of residents in the southern district unbearable were not enough. The City Council has decided to build a crematorium , which has been the straw that broke the camel's back.
Hundreds of residents have come out to protest, supported by the neighborhood activist in Orcasitas and councilor of the Madrid City Council, Félix López-Rey, who has stated that: "I would like to know if any ruler of the community's City Council would take a crematorium to his neighborhood or district."
