They denounce the Andalusian PP for using Canal Sur to benefit companies linked to the party

The recent complaint of the PSOE-A on the use of Canal Sur has exposed what they consider unfair and unethical practices by the Partido Popular in Andalusia. According to the socialists, relatives of senior officials of this political party would be taking advantage of public television to promote their businesses through what is known as covert advertising .
The parliamentarian of the PSOE through Seville, Rafael Recio, He has described the situation presented during the parliamentary commission as "boss-like" RTVA. During this session, a newscast broadcast on July 18 highlighting the company's activity was discussed. Hielos Mairena, related to the wife of a delegate of the Government of the Junta of Seville.
This report, which was broadcast in the middle of the hot season, revolved around the operation of this ice factory in Mairena del Alcor. The public was shown how ice is produced, with a headline stating: 'The ice factory, in full swing' . During the presentation, the reporter explained that "The ice factory works at 18 degrees below zero, where the machines do not rest" , a situation that apparently increased the media exposure of the company in question.
The intervention of Jorge Gómez Franco, head of production of Hielos Mairena, during the news piece the controversy intensified. From the PSOE-A, It is argued that this situation cannot be seen as a mere coincidence, but rather as a deliberate attempt to use public media to favour private interests.
The Andalusian Socialists argue that this is not an isolated exception , but part of a broader pattern of misuse of public resources. Current legislation, specifically Law 13/2022 General on Audiovisual Communication , completely prohibits covert advertising in public media.
The spokesman for the PSOE-A has highlighted that the use of Canal Sur as an advertising platform for companies related to members of the PP Not only is this ethically questionable, but it also represents an improper use of public funds . The parliamentarian stressed that it is “a cacique act” that affects the citizens of Andalusia, who finance the public media with their taxes.
In addition to bringing the situation to the attention of the Audiovisual Council of Andalusia, the PSOE-A The company does not rule out taking legal action in this matter. They stress that this is not just a political issue, but an ethical responsibility. The question that arises is: why a report focused on a single company, which happens to belong to the family of a government official? PP, emerges at a time of crisis for political propaganda?
The restlessness of the PSOE-A This is justified, given that there are more than 276 ice factories in Andalusia, 52 of them located in Seville. The Socialists demand clarity and transparency about this practice, which, in their opinion, protects partisan interests rather than serving the public interest.
Misuse of Canal Sur for advertising purposes, as indicated by the PSOE-A, represents a serious problem that affects the credibility of public media.
