Irregularities in Feijóo's management in Galicia
In the political arena, the figure of Alberto Núñez Feijóo has been surrounded by controversy since his time at the head of the Xunta de Galicia. His leadership has been the subject of numerous criticisms, especially regarding the transparency of the contracts awarded during his mandate. The opposition has expressed its concern about irregularities and nepotism in public management, which has led to an intense political debate that seems to have no end.
One of the highlights of this controversy has been the attempt by theBNGto establish a commission of inquiry to analyse the cost overruns in the construction of the Álvaro Cunqueiro hospital in Vigo. Despite the opposition's attempts, the PP has blocked every proposal in this regard. The situation is aggravated by having to consider the links between politics and the business community to which some of the awarded contracts are linked.
One aspect that has caused concern is the extra cost of 470 million euros associated with the construction of the Álvaro Cunqueiro hospital. This issue has caught the attention of theConsello de Contas, who has produced a report on this situation. While Feijóo is now pushing for amnesty and funding issues, his management in Galicia is associated with this type of questioning.
Contracts awarded to related companies
Another important front is the one related to Eulen , of which Micaela Núñez Feijóo, sister of Alberto Núñez Feijóo, is director in the North-West area. In total, during Feijóo's government, contracts worth 37 million euros were awarded, which has aroused the interest of the opposition to examine the validity of these contracts.
Business ties during the pandemic
Feijóo's management during the pandemic has also drawn criticism. The emergency contracts signed have been the subject of attention, particularly those that linked the Xunta with companies such as Universal Support. These types of relationships, linked to telemarketing campaigns, have cast a shadow over the suitability of awarding contracts in times of crisis. An additional aspect that cannot be overlooked are the accusations of irregularities in the delivery of medical supplies by external companies during COVID-19.
Despite the PP's resistance to allowing investigations, the opposition has continued with its efforts.PSdeGand others have expressed their support for the BNG's initiative to request a thorough audit of all these contracts. However, the PP's argument that these contracts had already been previously investigated has remained a point of contention in the political debate. This has led to a discussion about the urgent need for transparency in public spending and the need for a more in-depth review of the operations carried out during Feijóo's term in office.
