• Police beat retirees in Argentina. Milei's refusal to improve pensions

  • August 29, 2024

Argentina Milei Retirees
Police forces of MileiLike hunting dogs, they go where the finger of their redeemer points, a simile of a dictatorship, repression, reaching the lowest point, hitting those who with their lives raised Argentina, repressing them, starving them and exploiting them until they die.

Milei mistreats her elders severely
The low incomes of most Argentine retirees are far from covering their basic needs, so many are forced to continue working mostly in the informal sector and with equally depressed salaries.
In Argentina, the retirement age is 60 for women and 65 for men, and there are approximately 6.5 million retirees , representing almost 14% of the country's total population.
With the arrival of Milei The battered fabric of social security has worsened and pensions are so ridiculous that they have nothing to do with the minimum coverage of a basket of basic needs.
Retirees and people over 60 years of age are forced to continue working in this precarious situation. Thus, 927,405 are over 60 years of age and 329,716 of them are workers who are already receiving a pension.
The figures of the more than a thousand retirees over 90 years of age who continue to work or the almost 30,000 retired people, mostly women, registered under the private home scheme are also surprising .
Particularly in cleaning and security services, there is an overexploitation of older people, where they are paid the least, they are given risky or arduous tasks, and they continue to work despite their age and chronic pathologies.
More serious is the exploitation in clandestine sewing workshops or the use of older adults as drug mules in a scenario of severe economic crisis in Argentina and with the highest inflation rate in the world, 65% of retirees receive the minimum pension, which in August 2024 is about 225 dollars.
The situation of pensioners is unsustainable, while protests and police repression continue in an Argentina that is in free fall and that looks more and more like a far-right dictatorship than a European democracy.
