In an internal speech, Feijóo highlighted the power of social media by mentioning that Pérez had obtained 800,000 votes through his mobile phone alone. Despite the PP's victory, the emergence of 'The party is over' has represented a significant challenge. Although the national spokesman, Borja Sémper, played down the relevance of this new formation, the data indicate that the PP needs to focus its efforts on attracting not only its traditional voters, but also those willing to change their political option.
The competition with Vox is intense, and as the PP has pointed out, a new three-phase competition on the right could affect its chances of governing. The party has stepped up its rhetoric, seeking to mobilise voters in a context saturated with extremist messages.
The PP has found that in order to attract younger voters, it is necessary to break with traditional forms of communication. Although Feijóo has participated in podcasts and digital platforms, these have not been the most effective actions so far. The need for a change in the communication strategy is evident.
With the growing influence of social media, the PP has begun producing content that seeks to resonate on platforms such as Telegram and Twitter. One of its latest campaigns shows a deliberate effort to connect with voters through shocking and humorous messages, although some of these efforts have drawn criticism.
